What's involved in replacing the shifter cable on my Saturn?

Take the original lever and grind off the material flush from backside. Remove old pin using a hammer and punch. Lay the lever on the top of vise jaws and hit pin with hammer and punch. Remove the pin and clean cable end, insert pin thru cable then thru the lever. Install E-clip on backside.

The cable on most saturn models will require removal of the center console (shifter housing) , and it will be routed from the shifter under the carpet ,exiting the firewall to the transaxle .The cable will be secured at the shifter base,firewall,and transaxle. The cable ends snap onto shift levers at transaxle and shifter,other than that unbolt cable.
