What were some common Elizabethan leisure activities?

There were many different leisure activities during the Elizabethan age. Three of the major ones were cockfighting, bear and bull baiting. Gaming or what we know as gambling were a part of these blood sports. Elizabethan loved the theatre, dancing and music. Sports such as tennis and bowls were popular. And of course card games and chess.

Games, music, dance, and theater were popular. Card games, dice, and backgammon were common. Shakespeare's plays emerged at this time. Hunting was an activity that provided entertainment and food. Blood sports were also popular. These include cock fighting, bull fighting, and dog fighting.
