New kitten poop should be firm and cylindrical shaped. Because they are firm and not easily broken they should be easy to pick up. The color ranges from yellow to dark brown, depending on what your kitten ate. The poop should not be firm at one end and soft on the other. This is irregular and may indicate a problem.

It depends on how old they are and what they're eating. If they're newborn their poop should be about the consistency of toothpaste. If they're older their poop should be fairly solid.

When kittens are young they tend to have more potent-smelling bowel movements. Their organs are still growing and working out how to properly digest certain types of food, so their stool may be a bit loose for a short while. Be sure that you are consistent in feeding them.

Not real firm, but not runny either. Yellow to a little greenish in color is normal as they are not eating solids yet.

If the new kitten is still on liquid diet it will be looser than normal. If on regular cat food the stool should be fairly firm but not too hard.

I have found that when I have a kitten the first few weeks the poop is very loose probably because of the liquid diet that the mother feeds it but after the kitten starts to eat solid food it seems to get more consitent to a regular harder poop the way it should be.
