What should I know before clipping duck wings?

If you clip the ducks wings it will not be able to escape from predators if it needs to. Clipping wings is like cutting hair, unless you clip too close to the blood vessels it will not hurt the duck

Most of the time clipping isn't really necessary. If the duck is a heavy breed it won't be able to fly much anyway. The best thing to do would be to consult your local vet, who can advise you whether it should be done. If he thinks you should, he can also show you how it's done properly.

Clipping duck wings is just like a haircut. First cut the flight feathers. Be careful and cut only about a quarter of the length of the feather. Clipping can be done twice a year and clipping of one wing will be fine.
