You should know its location, and check it's fluid level once a month. While doing that alway check it for any leaks at the hoses and cap.

Always keep it filled to manufactures specification and it should be label. Never overfill it and flush it ever couple of years for best performance. Make sure the the cover is clean of debris before opening it in order to keep dirt from falling down into the fluid and messing up the pump.

Always keep it filled and check it regularly. Make sure the fluid is up to the level marked my the manufacturer. Also make sure there is nothing added to the fluid. Try to keep it clean.

make sure the fluid is at the proper level and clean, make sure there is not water in it or other debris like dirt or wrong type of fluid

It iss a product that does it's job right, but it also does (as all things) suffer from usual wear and tear. Holding the steering as you turn right or left is a safe way to delay the wearing. Take good care of it, and it'll do it's job well.
