Idling too low? Check for dirty air filter. Interim procedure: shift into neutral whenever idling, this will bring RPMs up slightly. Misfiring? Check spark plugs, wires, and ignition system. Check for vacuum leak: have assistant holding idle speed up enough to prevent stalling, and lightly spray carb cleaner around vacuum hoses. If RPMs change noticably at one hose, replace it.

Two options for you, take the car into a mechanic and have it serviced, or you can do shift into neutral at stops and gently rev the engine.

Don't panic. Revive with grace-under-pressure. Always mind the on-lookers. Artfully switch start again. Give a little gas and hold. If that doesn't work wave and say 'push'.

You will need to take the car to a mechanic to check out timing issues and also fuel system issues, this is likely what's causing the car to stall.
