What is wrong with my cat if he has hind leg weakness and muscle wasting?

There is more than one cause for this condition. One major cause is feline diabetes that is not under control. The cat may have nerve damage in her spine. Your vet should be consulted because there is treatments for this affliction.

Your cat could be suffering from feline diabetes which is the most common cause of weakness of the hind legs in cats. It could also be caused by high phosphorus levels or low potassium levels. Muscle wasting can be caused by low magnesium or calcium levels. Take cat to vet.

It could be a clot in an artery in the cat's lower body. This can be a life-threatening problem. You should take teh cat to the vet.
