A uterus didelphys is commonly known as a double uterus. This results in two entirely separate uterine cavities, each with its' own lining.

In a small percentage of women, the uterus may have a structural abnormality, from a wall separating the uterus in half, to two of the entire reproductive tract. Uterus didelphys is also known as a double uterus, where the uterine wall failed to fuse normally.
