What is the range used to measure IQs?

+6

Answer by  monkeyz (3150)

The scale most commonly used is the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. There is one for people 16 and up, and one for children. IQs are centered at 100 for an "average" intelligence, with a standard deviation of 15. This means that roughly 70% of people fall between an IQ of 85 and 115.

There is no fixed range. One hundred is average. The distribution is assumed to be Gaussain with a standard deviation of 15 so 99.9% people fall between 50 and 150
