The Pharos of Alexandria was a lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the world. Built between 285 and 247BC on the island of Pharos. Its height was somewhere between 380 and 440 feet, which gave it a range of 35 miles. Damaged by earthquakes 1303 and 1323 and deconstructed.

It's one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The Pharos of Alexandria was a lighthouse that stood on the island of Pharos outside the port of Alexandria for nearly 1500 years (from roughly 280BCE to 1480CE) until a series of earthquakes over the centuries finally destroyed it.
