Enter the Excel formula in the target cell where you want show the result of a subtraction. For example, if you want to subtract a number of A2 from a number in A1, in cell A3 enter the formula =A1-A2. You can extend the range from A3 by dragging the formula down through cells A4 and below.

Make sure your date ranges are formatted as dates. Then enter cell subtraction formulas in the target cell(s) as you normally would. What will result is a calculation of days.

Is there a quick way to subtract ranges? Example: RangeA = A1:A20 RangeB = A1:A10 RangeC = subtract(RangeA, RangeB) Now RangeC = A10:A20 Is there something like that?

You can just treat it as a number as long as your date cells are formatted as dates (any date format) and entered as numbers i. e. 10/10/09. Use the sum function.

You can indicate subtract ranges in Excel as, Difference = the main reference cell - other reference cell that is to be subtracted. For example Difference = D1 - E1, where D1 is the main reference cell and E1 is the reference cell which is to be subtracted.

Subtraction is one of the basic process performed when creating and analyzing data involving numbers. In order to subtract cells in an excell spreadsheet the user can create a formula manually or use the SUM function. Always begin our subtraction formulas with "=" sign. This is a requirement for formulas created in excell.
