Simply put, theft is taking something that does not belong to you. This could be something you feel is yours by rights, but legally is not, which is a matter for a judge to decide. In the law there are different kinds of theft, depending on what is taken and the value of it.

Theft or larceny, is the when one legal entity -- usually an individual, but possibly some other incorporated body, illegally seizes the property of another individual or corporate entity.
