What is the hardest language to learn?

I imagine a language like Japanese, Russian or Greek which involves learning a new alphabet before you start with vocab, tenses etc.

First what comes to mind is one of the Asian languages, which contain hieroglyphs instead of letters. Difference is similar to the one between Arabic and Roman numbers. (Which reminds me: Arabic language is quite a challenge as well.) Or if you don't want such extreme, you can try Russian of French: definately some harsh time there.
