Found at around 6,000 metres (20,000 ft) towards the bottom of the ocean, the hadal zone is one of the deepest trenches found in the ocean.

Also known as the 'trench zone' or 'hadopelagic zone', the hadal zone refers to the trenches of the very deepest parts of the ocean. It is very dark, cold and under high pressure and is home to some unusual forms of life.
