Goes-12. also known as GOES-M, is a weather satellite and is part of US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite system. It was launched in 2001. As of April 2010, it is on standby orbit. Prior to that it operated in the GOES-EAST position and provided coverage of the east coast of the US.
