Lupus is an autoimmune disease wherein the body attacks its own organ systems, especially the skin, kidneys and heart, and is treated with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes chronic pain throughout the whole body. It is treated with muscle relaxants and anti-depressants.

while the presenting symptoms of lupus and fibromyalgia are often similar they are entire different conditions. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect most organ systems. Kidney and lung involvement have serious complications. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome whose cause is not clearly understood. Fibromyalgia affects primarily the joints and mucles, sometimes leading to debilitating pain.

Yes, I think they are basically about the same. Lot of the symptons of both of them are pain of the joints, tiredness, fever, and just feel terrible.
