A rheumatologist may be seen in order to first diagnose the condition known as fibromyaligia. There are several soft tissues areas on the human body that the rhuematologist will apply pressure to in order to achieve the diagnosis of fibromyalgia in order to begin treatment.

Your Primary Care Physician can be the starting point in treating your fibromyalgia. He or she can start your tests, and then they may refer you to a chronic pain specialist or a neurologist.

You should first go to a Primary Care Doctor. If he or she suspects you may have fibromyalgia then you will be referred to a rheumatologist. A rheumatologist is a doctor who specializes in arthritis and diseases related to arthritis, such as fibromyalgia.

Your best bet would be an Internist. Sometimes an Internist is listed under General Medicine. Current research suggests fibromyalgia is psychologically based perhaps you should talk with a good mental health professional??
