Two ton heat pumps are 24,000 BTUs and approximately 800 cfm. Four ton heat units are 48,000 and 1600 cfm. A house requires less than one cfm per square foot.

Air conditioners and heat pumps are rated in tons of cooling. A 4 ton heat pump moves twice as much heat as a 2 ton unit.

The difference is in the refrigeration capabilities. A two ton can produce up to 24,000 btu's an hour and a 4 ton can produce up to 48,000 btu's an hour. A 4 ton is larger.
