Question by  Kishore (17)

What is the correct name of the evening meal: dinner or supper?

I hear it called both.

Both of these words are correct. The word "dinner" is more used and known in American English and means - evening meal, whereas in Brittish English the word "dinner" is used for midday meal and the word "supper" for evening meal.

Both of these names are correct to use when referring to a meal. Supper is a term that was used more often in olden times, but it is still correct.
