The language of Brazil is Portuguese. There is no "Brazilian" language per se. "Greetings" is "cumprimentos. " Other Central and South American countries have Spanish as the official language. Brazil was colonized by Portugal and is the only country in the region where Portuguese is spoken. There are several dialects, but the language for the most part is consistent.

The Brazilian word for "greetings" is "Votos". However Brazilian is considered slang by most, the actual language is Portuguese. Other ways to greet people are "Tudo Bom? " which means "How are you? " and "ola" or "oi" or "alo" means hello but they are used in different context, because "alo" is more formal.
