"Please join us to celebrate our marriage" with date, time, place details. The venue will make it obvious that guests are being invited to a reception/party.

Getting married privately, then having a later reception is not unusual. Generally, an invitation would be somewhat like this: You are cordially invited to a reception celebrating the marriage of ( ) and ( ) on (date of reception) at (place of reception). Attire is (casual/dressy casual, etc.). rsvp

Consider saying, "(Names)will be celebrating their marriage and are requesting your presence at their wedding reception on_____(date) at____(time)located at___(address). You could also say, "Following a private wedding ceremony, __(names) are requesting your presence at their wedding reception...." Including a map to the location is always helpful.

You can easily write on the wedding invitation that there will be no reception following. That might be a little blunt, but it can will work fine.
