The way i do it with good results is to paint the pieces outside by hanging them on a clothes line with a foot of 14 gauge wire then i spray paint them with a thin coat about every half hour.

The best way to improve your painting skills is to read articles about hobby painting. There are many magazines and books that can give you great ideas and techniques.

Airbrush kit's that are sold in same section as the model's.They leave a Factory looking smooth surface.Another way is to let it slow dry don't use a fan.

Choose first your paint type: latex, acrylic, enamel, and lacquer base. The best application methods are brush or spray. Apply multiple light layers of finish to hide any imperfections.

I've found that painting the parts before gluing/assembly to work best for me. I use spray paint for large pieces, and brush the smaller. After painting, it's important to clean the edges so that you get a good fit. After assembly, you can then do whatever touch ups you need with a brush, then apply decals last.

First make sure you are using the proper paint, made for plastic rather than metal models. Then try using a very fine brush so that you can do detail work without it looking sloppy. There may be an airbrush that could be used to do the first coat, then do the detailing with your fine brush.

I've always brush painted, but I use small amounts of paint, spread thin. I use two or three thin coats on main parts. Then I go over details as needed. I usually do a wash afterwards of black water-based paint diluted in water. This adds a more realistic finish.
