There are so many conditions that can cause this, that I can't give any one set of treatments- you need to have your friend vetted to find out if this is Cushings, or ideopathic neuropathy, or simple arthritis- DON'T ASK a website, ask your vet- your good buddy deserves that.

Talk to your vet about medications and diets that could help your dog. Often if you supplement your dog with extra fiber and protein and other vitamins it can help.

The weaker the muscles, the less they are able to assist the bones and joints. With exercise the circulation of the joints will be improved and it also strengthens the muscles.
