The best diet for a budgie should contain a wide variety of foods - greens, fruits, and some seeds. Millet seed should be reserved for special snacks. Budgies like to eat greens, carrots, fresh chopped fruits. Commercial heat and serve foods are available for Budgies that provide complete nutrition. There are also high quality pellet diets available for budgies.

Budgies should have a variety of foods in their diet, including plenty of fresh greens and fruits (although not all budgies will eat these). A 100% seed diet is not healthy for budgies; it is better to feed them a mix that includes pellets or Nutriberries (which can be crumbled up and placed in the food cup).

Budgies should be feed a diet consists mainly of bird pellet specially formulated for budgies. These will prevent food picking as compared to the seed mixes. You should also provide seed mixes, fresh fruits and vegetables for variety and nutrients. Other treats such as commercial budgie treats, millet, cheerios and unsweetened bread should be given sparingly in limited quantities.
