The clicking sound is probably actually coming from your starter and is the typical symptom of a weak battery. Your starter isn't getting enough voltage to actually turn the motor over. Recharge or replace the battery.

It is more than likely your starting solenoid. Which is indicating that your battery is low or dead. The solenoid itself can also be bad or a loose connection on battery terminals or some other point in the electrical system. Start by testing the battery and trace the circuit from their checking connections and testing components.

You are having some type of problem with the battery itself. First, lift hood and check terminals. Be sure there are no loose connections. Second, check that there is no corrosion build up on terminals. If yes, remove one connection and clean with old toothbrush and replace connection. Do other terminal. Still clicking, jump start and replace battery.

Is the clicking noise when you start the engine? If so it could be the solenoid that engages the starter motor. If not you might need to give some more details about when the noise occurs.
