A normal platelet count ranges from 150,000-450,000. When someone is suffering the affects of Lyme disease, they may experience lower platelet counts. This can be significantly lower or borderline low, depending on the severity of the disease.

A healthy platelet count is 200,000 to 450,000. Where no average platelet count truly exists it is noted that patients with Lyme's disease have a count of 150,000 or lower.

Lyme's disease can cause a low platelet count (less than 150,00). However, it is NOT a required feature as many patients with Lyme's disease have normal platelet counts during the disease. So there is NO average platelet count other than the normal range between 150,000 to 450,000.
