As far as I know, there have been zero cases of Lyme's disease in Florida. The ticks which carry this miserable malady are confined to the Northeast US.

Ticks anywhere, even in Florida can carry Lyme's Disease. While a tick can be anywhere, they are common in woodsy or brushy areas.

Unfortunately, some ticks in Florida do carry Lyme Disease. The best way to prevent the disease is to avoid tick bites. If you are going into the woods, wear light-colored long pants, sleeves and socks. In addition, spray your skin and clothes with a insect spray containing DEET.

Yes.. Deer or mice infected with lyme disease infect the tick that climbs on them and proceeds to eat! The tick can end up on a human and bite them.
