PC is "penal code." The "187" is the particular section of the penal code. In several states, PC 1878 is the section of the penal code dealing with murder.
In u.S and California, this is used synonymously with the word murder, both on the law enforcing side and the gangs of U.S and California. 187 is read as one-eight-seven or one-eighty-seven.
