Buy a pc. It's cheaper, they run faster and if your daughter has problems then she can put ubuntu linux and then she can make it look like a mac
ALL PROGRAMS WILL RUN ON A LINUX SYSTEM and I've had mine going for 3 months straight no problems!
Definitely a Mac! No viruses, runs perfectly.
But you have to consider this. If you're working on design/graphics/film/media, you could definitely use a Mac.
But business/engineering schools would be more comfortable with PC because more industry-oriented programs are PC friendly only.
I converted my entire organization to Mac from PC (14 computers) and saved hours upon hours of time fighting unstable software and viruses. I now work in a PC office and have to budget for monthly breakdowns. At home we have a PC and a Mac and prefer Mac.
Go with a Mac like people say nor stable and also with a little modification you can run windows software on it and have the best of both worlds. But yes! they are a little more pricey!!!
The reason that PCs are cheaper is that the software is less stable, the hardware is lower quality, and they are more susceptible to security attacks and other problems. Yes, Macs cost more, but they are entirely worth it.
Mac. I have found Macs to be more economical and reliable in the long run. There are hardly ever any operating system changes, and if you do upgrade the OS, all the programs are backwards compatible. My Mac has never given me trouble in the 3 yrs. I've had it compared to 4 mechanical issues with my PC.
as more and more software is becoming available for mac, i think it is becoming a personal choice. if she will need some special software, make sure its available for mac. also, macs can cost a little more, but if you can afford apples, go for em
A PC because every software for a Mac is available on a PC, where as the opposite is not true. Macs are used a lot in computer graphics work and art students may be better off with a Mac as they do have an edge, historically, with computer graphics work. 3D gaming is the exception, windows is the leader here.
PC would be the best option. Price-wise, they're cheaper, and it costs a lot less for faster processors on a PC than on a Mac. Sure, Mac's are the 'cool' computer to have, but you're looking at over $1300 for the same memory speed as a PC that cost a third of that.
