It is a specific type of weaving that allows you to lift one warp string at a time to create an intricate pattern, it requires a Jacquard-capable loom.

The warp threads in a woven material are those that run top to bottom through the loom, while you "weave" with the weft. For most looms, the warp threads are grouped together and groups move together. Jacquard weaving allows the weaver to control each warp thread individually, giving much greater versatility in pattern design.

In Jacquard weaving, a special loom (hand or mechanical) is used that allows each threaded row to be lifted independently, thus allowing more complicated and detailed weaving patterns.
