Folliculitis is a term for inflammation of hair follicles on the skin. The skin is infected and has a variety of causes. It can be bacterial, viral, fungal, and non-infectious.

Follicitis is caused by infected hair follicles. The painful or itchy inflammation of the hair follicle is a usual symptom. It is often caused by exposing the hair to a hot, contaminated environment (which is why follicitis is often called Hot Tub Follicitis).

It is a condition that develops where hair follicles are present on the body. Little bumps appear on the infected site and sometimes a hair is entrapped inside the bump. It can affect any part of the skin where there is hair. It is treated with antibiotic creams, lotions, and pills.
