Common skin irritations can be allergies to polleen or molds or parasites like Ringworm, also there is Staphylococci and Malassezia (yeast). There also Hot Spots which is acute moist dermatitis caused by a dog's own licking and scratching. These are all treatable.

Fleas, skin parasites and allergies are possible common causes regardless of their breeds. Dogs can be allergic to foods, clothings and materials that he has contact with as well. Although different breeds may have different reactions to various foods and products, common ground is not unusual.

The most common causes of skin irritation in dogs are whether that be an external allergy, like plants, perfumes, gardening chemicals, or internal, like the food they eat or a particular ingredient in the food. And of course parasites, like fleas, ticks, and mites. No breed is more susceptible then others.

Each breed is different, but you'll definitely have more problems with a dog with less hair. The most common problem with the Chinese Crested is that they will suffer adverse reactions with prolonged exposure to the sun.

"Red spots" or "hotspots" are when a dog has a minor sore on a spot that they can lick and bite and they lick it to extreme irritation.
