When my car stalls, and won't start up again for a while I found out after alot of frustrating incorrect car repairs that the problem was my crank sensor needing to be replaced. It would occasionally start in neutral after it stalled, but the problem happened more and more often until I had it fixed

Cars can stall for all kinds of reasons. You could need new spark plugs, a distributor cap, or plug wires. You may have a plugged fuel or air filter. You may have a failing fuel pump or a fuel leak. You may have cooling problems, causing overheating. You may also have exhaust system problems.

On older cars, carburetors need to be adjusted and cleaned every so often. Newer cars can develop a fault in one of the many engine sensors. If the check engine light is lit, the accompanying trouble code can reveal the fault. Automatic transmissions that are low on fluid can stall an engine.

There are a few reasons a car will stall. On cars with fuel injection look for a bad idle control selinoid, clogged fuel filter or you may need a tune up. These are a few things to look at if you have a check engine light on have the vehicle scanned for other bad sensors.
