A white buffalo is an American Bison with white fur. This is usually caused by albinism, however, "beefalo" - buffalo bred with cattle - can also sometimes be white furred due to genetic ancestry. They are considered to be sacred by some Native American tribes, but are otherwise not significantly different from normal bison.

A "white buffalo" is a bison with white fur. Such animals are considered sacred in a number of Native American traditions. They are very rare; when one is born it is venerated by Native Americans, who perform ceremonies and prayers in tribute. Some buffalos are born white but turn brown as they mature. Others stay white all their lives.
