What is a multiplicative inverse?

In mathematics, a multiplicative inverse as popularly known is the reciprocal of a number. If x is the number then multiplicative reverse of x is a number which when multiplied by x equals 1, which is also known as Multiplicative Identity. Multiplicative Inverse or Reciprocal of a number x is denoted by 1⁄x or x−1

It is the reciprocal of that number. For the multiplicative inverse of a real number, divide 1 by the number. For example, the reciprocal of 0. 25 is 4.
