When a female dog is pregnant she will tend to be more territorial and defensive that usual, especially towards other dogs. Her appetite will be much larger and she may also feel the need to protect a specific region of the house which she plans on having her pups.

A dog temperment may become slightly territorial and possessive as they seek a safe place to have their puppies. They may become food possessive and a bit " bossy". This phase is only temporary though and when the puppies arrive she'll forget all the preperations she made and hopefully you will too.

During her pregnancy my Lucy enjoyed the attention especially when her belly was rubbed. She wasn't unpleasantly temperamental at all. Her nesting instincts took her under the bed constantly. She wanted to be alone, sometimes only coming out to eat.

During most of the pregnancy, a dog's temperature is what it would normally, then 24-48 hours before she gives birth it will drop 1-2 degrees.

My dog (a dachshund) was kind of lazy because she got so big. They need a lot of food. Other than that though, she acted pretty normally. Just couldn't run around or be super active.

Each dog is different. Usually any changes you see will be in the last stages of pregnancy. Your dog may want to be left alone and become more irritable.

My dog had no change in her temperament while she was pregnant. I guess it would depend on the dog though, and how uncomfortable she might be. Kind of like with a pregnant woman, everyone is different.
