The first thing you need to consider before you get it is do you have enough time to spend with it these birds require huge amounts of personal one on one time or they will pull there feathers out and some even get mean you also need to make sure you have enough room for the bird.

Well for one thing, you must consider that a macaw can live up to 100 years, so you would be stuck with the bird possibly for the rest of yor life. You would tend to get very attached. Also, the beak of a large macaw can cut through a person's finger, so keeping the beak filed is advisable.

You should think about how much time and money it takes to care for a macaw, and if you have that kind of time and money. With the macaw being a tropical bird, you should also consider the type of environment needed for a macaw to thrive and if you can provide that type of environment.

Macaws are beautiful birds that can make get pets. However they are very loud and messy. Their huge beaks can inflict damage to furniture and household belongings, in addition to human appendages. They should not be owned by first time bird owners. The birds are very intelligent and require interaction.

For an inexperienced bird owner, a macaw is not the best choice. They are extremely loud, messy, and demanding. It's better to start with a smaller bird like a cockatiel. Birds will take over your life, and not everyone is cut out to be a bird owner.

A young macaw is better to buy rather than the older one, because there are many instances that the older macaw had learned a bad habit that maybe hard to break.Make sure that the macaw that you will buy is healthy.
