Pears that I buy always go bad before we get the chance to eat them.

When you buy pears, make sure they are firm and not soft. Give them a few days to get somewhat softer and then refrigerate them.

If you intend to store the pears for the next day buy the pears which are not ripe and will be ripe after a day or so or you can preserve the pears in sugar syrup which will prevent the pear and can be stored for longer days.

You can cut the pears up, make a light syrup from sugar and water, fill your jars with the pears covering them with the syrup a 1/2 inch from the top of the jar, put on canning lids and process in a boiling water bath.

When you buy a pear, make sure you refrigerate them right away. You can always freeze them as well. Peel them, slice them, (important) and toss them in water (with one cup of sugar to 2 cup water) and boil. Drain them, add lemon juice, and freeze them.
