Baby possums are mammals, and nurse from their mother's teats. A young orphan will need to be bottle-fed. Please consult an experienced wildlife rehabilitator regarding the appropriate diet and care of an orphan. Babies with mothers will gradually introduce themselves to her foods as they mature.

Diluted 1 part formula/2 parts water in a 1cc syringe[three feedings]. Then give 3 feedings of equal parts[1-1] every 2-4 hours.

If you find an orphaned baby possum, you should feed them 2% milk about every 4 hours. They will not drink from a bowl so you will need a bottle or eye dropper to feed them.

Most wildlife re-habilatators will tell you NOT to give baby possums regular milk, but use puppy replacer milk mixed with distilled water and a bit of pedialyte to keep them hydrated. NEVER feed a baby p. until you can get their body temp. warmed as this can kill them quickly.  add a comment
