My infant gets dark pink/purplish looking under his eyes when he's having sinus issues, like a cold, allergies, sinus/ear infection, or when he's just really overtired.

Some children are naturally purplish under the eyes, and this is especially prominent in infants, who are typically fairly pale. Other causes of purple under the eyes may be due to dehydration, too much salt in the diet, or bruising caused by straining from defecating or excessive crying. Give the infant plenty of liquids, and ask your doctor.

Infants get discolorations under their eyes for the same reasons that adults do. There are several possibilities. It could be fatigue or lack of sleep. It could also be due to trauma (a "black eye"), although this is unlikely. A fever is another possibility. You should check your child's temperature, but there is probably nothing to worry over.
