Lots of trees have purple bloooms. Lilacs, magnolias, and some varities of crape myrtle and apple trees also have purple blooms. There is also the empress tree that has trumpet shaped blooms in purple. How large is the tree and what is the fragrance of the blooms. That will all help identify it. Lilacs are my favorite.
