The wiring for electric input/output may be faulty. There is also the chance of a defect in one of the many parts that help it function: specifically, the cooling system may have overheated, or the air intake may be plugged up. Also, the fridge may not function if there is a fault or leak in the door.

These refrigerators are known to have problems with the motors especially in the summer months or when adequate airflow is not present. They often overheat and in turn destroy the bushings on the motor. The motor can be replaced by a technician for around four hundred dollars or you can buy the motor and do it yourself for around $200.

Commonly the thermostat located in the rear of the unit bumps up against the inner walls of the freezer from door slamming, and overall can be a tideous repair. Try checking to see if it became unplugged, or if the circuit breaker could have been tripped as well. Never try to repair yourself with the unit plugged in.

If your Hotpoint refrigerator quit working, the compressor may have gone bad, I suggest calling a reapirman to come look at it and give you a reason and an estimate.

first, check your power plug. It might not been plug properly. Cehck for excessive icing. temperature control (that round knob inside the ref) is set too high. If no ice or cooling there might be a leak or the compressor is wacked out:) However, it might just a simple bulb replacement.
