What concerns might a researcher have about using a numeric hypothesis?

During validation even if some experimental values are not matching with the hypothesis, the source of error can be experimental, and independent from the validity of the hypothesis.

I think that using a numeric hypothesis in an experiment really limits your search. If you use a number then you probably need a range of results which you will deem acceptable, and then know what numbers do not match your hypothesis close enough.
