Well the best color would be any neutral one. I'd suggest that you go with a creme or rusty brownish beige color. Those would go best and of course you need to go neutral nothing else will match with a sage green wall. It just won't look right at all you know.

Sage green is really such a beautiful color. I would go with a nice cream color carpet if you don't believe it will get too dirty.

White carpeting could be a good choice for a fresh, clean, crisp look to your room. The right shade of gold that compliments the sage would also be bright and cheerful for this room. You can also try certain shades of gray with this color on your walls. Also ask a carpeting store for ideas. They are trained to help.
