What you describe as alligator-like skin on a dog could be mange. The dog should be seen by a vet ASAP. Any skin problem is very uncomfortable for your pet.

Your dog could be having a skin allergy or it could be mange. Either way the dog should be taken to a vet to see what's wrong. If it is mange it needs to be treated immediately as mange can be contagious. If it is a skin allergy you need to figure out what is causing it.
