Rodent identification can rely heavily on the jaw bone, dentition and size of the diastisis. When dealiting with live animals the size of the animals, size of the eyes and coat color can all be helpful.

It is based on the type of animal. It is not based on all animals however, and is only based on bugs. For example, you see an ant,but there are many different types of ants, and so you go to rodent identification to help you see which type of ant it is.

All species of rodents have in common one very specific characteristic; their teeth. Rodent incisors grow throughout the life of the animal and are continuously worn by gnawing or chewing.
