First off, make sure you're in the woods. If the bear is a vegetarian the scat will look like that of a dog's, but may have berries in it. Otherwise it may just look like regular dog poop.

Bear scat is alot like a domestic animals droppings. The best indication that it is bears is finding foot steps or other such markings that a bear has been in that area.

Bear scat can be identified,by the food that they eat. Different seasons of food can be notice in the scat. The food consist of berries,nuts and vegetations. The scats are also different in sizes,males have larger dropping then females. Also notice if the scat has change color,that mean the scat have been there a few days.

Bear scat is larger than other wild animal scat and will be reddish if the bear has recently fed on berries and runny and dark if fed on meat.
