Electromagnets are used to create fields of electromagnetic energy. Coils can be used to create electricity in power plants. The magnets can also be used to move objects by reversing the polarity of the magnets themselves, this can cause acceleration or deceleration depending on the polarity. Electromagnets are also used to magnify certain types of waves.

Electromagnets are magnets made by passing current through an insulated wire wound around a soft iron core and passing current. They are used in electric fans, motors, loudspeakers etc.
