There is the permenant magnet which always maintains a level of magnatism. Then there is the temporary magnet which are only magnetic when placed in an already existing magnetic field. Finaly there is the electromagnet. The electromagnet is a heliacal wire coil that is tightly wound around an iron core. The strength of the magnet is adjusted by adding electricity.

There are three different types of magnets; Permanent, Electromagnetic, and non-permanent. Each magnet is created differently; A permanent magnet is created naturally by the earth, An electromagnet is created by passing current through metal, and a non-permanent by moving a piece of metal by a magnet.

Well the most common magnet would be the type of metal we use when decorating our refrigerator. It is called the permanent magnet. You also have temporary magnets such as paperclips. And lastly you have the electromagnets such as a coil of wire. So all in all there are three different types of magnets.
