Word Viewer 6.0 allows you to open word documents without using microsoft word. This program only allows you to view documents you already have, but not alter or create a new document. You can check the author credentials to see who edited the document last. You can also print or copy+paste the document to other programs.

I can view and print documents made in Microsoft Word, Excel or Power Point without having Word Excel or Power Point. But if you want to make something in those programs, you have to have them.
